What is
STOTT PILATES®
At
Bedford Pilates, all of our Pilates instructors are
highly qualified, personable & caring certified
STOTT PILATES® Instructors.
STOTT PILATES® was co-created by
former professional dancer Moira Merrithew and Lindsey Merrithew
with input from sports medicine professionals, and is a
contemporary, anatomically-based approach to Joseph Pilates'
original exercise method. Its exercises safely deliver optimal
strength, flexibility and endurance, without adding bulk.
This stress-relieving method can be
performed on a mat or using dedicated
STOTT PILATES® equipment. Unlike the original series of
exercises, STOTT PILATES®
incorporates modern exercise principles, including contemporary
thinking about spinal rehabilitation and performance enhancement.
For example, unlike the original approach, which promotes a flat
back,
STOTT PILATES® exercises are
designed to restore the natural curves of the spine and rebalance
the muscles around the joints.
A natural curve to the spine increases
stability to the daily impacts we place on our spine and is
therefore much more shock absorbent. The
STOTT PILATES® method also places more emphasis on scapular
stabilization than the classic method. As well, there are more
preparatory exercises and modifications to make the method safer and
more effective.

Introduction to Pilates 5 Basic Principles: $45
This private
session is essential to learning the language and fundamentals of
Pilates. Mandatory for anyone who has never done Pilates before.
Intro Package:
Includes your
introductory session to the fundamentals plus 16 group classes which
expire 8 weeks from date of purchase. $175, that's a savings of $45!
Group Class Drop Ins: No commitment needed, the drop in
option allows you to ‘drop in’ when your schedule allows. Please
call ahead to assure our classes enable us to accommodate you.
One drop in class is

8 week Session Rates:
Eight Class Punch card: $96
Sixteen Class Punch card: $175
Unlimited Class Punch card*: $240
*normally 30 classes, FREE upgrade
rates are based on 8 weeks. Drop in cards only, no
signups required. Drop In cards expire at 8 weeks
from date of purchase and are not transferrable. Please
purchase the number of drop in classes accordingly.
Cancellations:
- 24 hours notice is requested to cancel a scheduled session
appointment. Cancellations without 24 hours notice will be charged
at the full rate. The studio reserves the right to cancel any
session or class at any time.
